Thank you for visiting my web site! My name is Laura R Miller and my company is Hoof and Shoe. I have been a Farrier for 20 years. I shoe a variety of performance horses with a special concentration on movement and equine lameness. I strive to keep your horse sound and happy. I serve clients whose horses are part of their family. I am dedicated to you and your horse to ensure you reach your next destination.
I am an avid rider and when I am not shoeing horses, I am riding my horses. I have rode in a variety of disciplines including reining, dressage, working cow horse, ranch versatility, endurance, barrel racing and pole bending. I currently have been showing my horse (Mo) in ranch versatility, extreme cowboy races and American Competitive Trail Horse Association events (ACTHA). I enjoy camping out with my horse and exploring trails. I love to do anything with my horse and that includes teaching him tricks or trying new disciplines. I currently have purchased a Lusitano name DEM Rayo. Rayo and I are going to compete in Working Equitation. It is a new discipline that includes 4 phases... (Dressage, Obstacles, Speed and Cow work) This is new to the east coast. I hope we are able to get an organization started here in NC.
With my husbands help we built a variety of obstacles throughout our farm that helps me train my horses to be confident. The picture at the top I thought was interesting showing all the blood vessels that are found in the hoof. Many believe that the hoof pumps the blood back through the horse, thus having 5 hearts. The picture to the left is a blast from the past. This picture was taken back when I was in Farrier School. I always liked that picture with me working on the small horse right next to another student working on the draft horse. With the link below, I thought I would entertain you with a ride on TopSail beach with my friend and client Julia Sadler. The other video is a trail competition that I and Mo had done during the NCHC Obstacle series. Both videos were taken using my helmet cam. You can always view any on my other videos by visiting my hoofnshoe you tube channel. Hope you enjoy these rides as much as I did!
