_Testimonial...
Back when my husband and I lived in NC, I was looking for a new farrier...found Laura through the internet..I specifically wanted a female farrier, one who would eventually become a great friend, even stood for us at our wedding along with her husband David !!! Laura knows what she is doing and is very well educated in the field, being certified as well from various schools and clinics...She also is a horse person !!! Owns and shows, so she knows horses inside and out !! Laura also taught me how to trim my own and let me go with her to various clients and watch her work ...I learned a lot ,not only about trimming, but horses as well ....Me and my husband now live in Virginia and I miss my times riding around with Laura learning the art of hoof care . I highly recommend Laura for any farrier services you may need, she is very kind and patient with the horses ,and to me that's what its all about, helping the horse ....Thanks Laura, we all miss you ....Bud,Sada,Scooter,Thunder,Cowboy,and Maddie !!!

_Laura was the only bare foot trimmer to rectify my Rocky Mountain Horse's feet.  He was way too upright, and she gradually corrected that.  She is also outstanding when it comes to any little problem you may feel you have.  She can explain everything in layman's terms so that I can understand.   Barbara Cohen

Some of the best things about Laura's work are;Her attention to detail-the horse, the owner and what issues may be occurring. Her willingness to work with others-the vet and other specialists. Her research into a problem that has been difficult to resolve.  Laura is willing to contact vets/specialists and work with them to try and help your horse.I have seen many horses improved by Laura becoming their farrier and I have recommended quite a few owners to give her a try when they felt they were in need of a change or had an unresolved issue or lameness.I personally have seen Laura work side by side with the vet to help return horses to soundness and have also seen her there when the final results were not what had been hoped.  I respect her knowledge and her willingness to admit when she needs to consult with specialists or vets. She is always on a quest to learn more and improve the horse through the "Hoof".         Julia Sadler

In 2008, at 8 years of age, Watermann, a Hanoverian cross weighing 1600 pounds, experienced a quarter crack in each front hoof, requiring 10 months of medical care and specialized shoeing with Richard Mansmann, VMD, PhD and farrier Kurt Vom Orde.  Watermann was prescribed stall rest for 10 months, with hand grazing and a gradual increase in his controlled work in Dressage.
After his recovery, Dr. Mansmann recommended Laura Miller as a farrier that could continue his foot care, using EPONA shoes.  Over the past 7 years, Watermann has progressed through the levels, riding his first Prix St. George test in Fall 2015. I attribute this to his EPONA shoes and my farrier, Laura Miller.

Switching to the Epona shoe has proven to be an overall wonderful decision for our horse “Geronimo”. We could not be happier with the product’s performance, quality and immediate results for our horse. Having a farrier with extensive knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of shoeing options and a specific interest in tackling lameness issues has also been a huge factor in getting us to where we are today. We bought Geronimo two years ago knowing his feet were not the best. He had a low to non-existent turned in heel, poor trimming, bad angles and a clear need for nutrition. We knew the road was going to be a long one, but felt that with superior farrier and vet care, we could make things happen. In our opinion, we have the best vet / farrier team in the area. They are both completely vested in his treatment and comfort. I knew Laura was our farrier from day one, when she saw his heel issues and dove in head first…with a positive “can-do” attitude. The past 2 years have been up and down with regards to his feet. Always making improvements with setbacks along the way became a labor of love for all. A combination of supplement adjusting and turn-out management, in conjunction with a thoughtful approach to shoeing and pad options have lead us to where we are today with the Epona Shoe. Geronimo has always been a lovely mover, receiving compliments wherever we go. Unfortunately his heel conformation led him to have frequent periods of soreness. We even got to the point where we were questioning the jobs we were asking him to perform. We were afraid that perhaps the best thing for him was to completely re-consider his job description. In our constant search for options we became aligned with the synthetic shoe option and our farrier highly recommended we try Epona. She had only used them previously on large, very high performance, high level horses. Geronimo is a small hunter, schooling show, pony club type horse. We decided to try Epona on him. It has been the best decision. His already beautiful stride became even lighter and freer and more extended, literally the next day! He just seems happier. We have gradually increased his work-outs and have been diligent about checking on him the next day(s) and everything has been alright ! No signs of soreness at all! And what’s even better… The horse gets his fancy shoes and so can mommy (well… in theory anyway) ! They are not outrageously expensive compared to the other therapeutic approaches we have tried. We love Epona and our farrier/vet team !

Back in 2005 I had a young Thoroughbred who suffered from the "no feet no horse" syndrome.  I got Laura's information from a friend who suggested Laura was good with horses who had "difficult" feet and that she may have some ideas on how to help this guy.  When Laura came out to do a consultation on my guy she was very thorough in describing her Natural Balance Method of shoeing.  It was a newer concept to me, but, Laura walked me through it and showed me how she did the measurements.  She even drew lines on my guy's hoofs to show me the balance line and how her trim would correct his medial and lateral imbalance.  I liked her logic and ability to explain the whole process to me and decided to see what she could do for him.  Unfortunately, when she pulled his shoes she discovered major corns he had developed in his soles.  :(  She immediately switched the plan of attack to address this unexpected finding and spent the next several months working very closely with me, my vet and the horse to get his feet back in working order.  My horse never moved better and never had another foot problem after working with
Laura.  When it was time for me to sell this horse, I continually got excellent feedback on his shoe job.  Many potential buyers and vets would ask who did his feet because they were impressed with the balance.  Laura did not have to worry, as I got another horse, an Irish Thoroughbred cross, who continues to provide her with a challenge as to what to do with his rear feet and propensity to hang onto a toe crack!  Laura's not just worried about the horses feet, she was the first one to suggest I might need to have a vet look at his hocks.  She could feel something was not exactly right with them when she was working on his feet and mentioned it to me.
I admire and love the fact that she lives for the challenge and is constantly researching and talking with other farrier professionals about my guy to see if they have any ideas/thoughts as to why he loves to wear his rear shoes like no other horse she has ever seen! Laura is a blessing to me and my horse.  She is always looking out for what's best for him.  Laura is always most prompt and courteous.  I can count on her to be on time, if not early, to our appointments, and if for some reason something has her running behind - she ALWAYS calls to let me know.  She always returns my calls in a timely manner and in the rare event he does something to himself between shoeings she works us into her schedule as quickly as she can.  She's easy going and the conversations while she's shoeing are a blast and range from horses to dog agility and flyball.  :)
